This Big Brake Kit For your Plus 1, 4 wheel conversion kit elevates your rear braking experience to the max, with 13.6” Drilled and Slotted Rotors and 4 Piston Wilwood Calipers. While the stock GM sized 11” rotors, Drilled and Slotted, have always been available and work well, as an upgrade for your Quad Conversion. The ultimate braking experience can  now be  obtained with The largest, Drilled, Slotted and Vented  Rotors, 13.6 ” coupled with 4 Piston Forged Dynalite Wilwood Calipers.  via Hardware designed and supplied by ATSS.

A Wilwood Mechanical Parking Brake Caliper is available as an option for the passenger side rear wheel or can be upgraded to dual rear wheel parking brakes with an additional drivers side Caliper.

Front Wilwood 4 Piston Forged DPHA calipers are also available as an option for your existing Polaris front rotors, or upgraded with stock size (11 3/4”), Drilled and Slotted front rotors. ($699.00 ) + rotor upgrades

It has long been established by the Automotive Industry that there are 4 ways to improve braking Performance and after plenty of research and product development,  ATSS now offers The Best Performance and most Economical Big Brake Kit available for your 4 wheel conversion . Ticking off the only 3 of the 4 methods known, that are available for  Slingshot applications.

1- Increase disc radius
Larger discs will allow for more brake torque as the brake pad will apply pressure at a larger radius, allowing for a higher moment arm. Brake torque is equal to the force applied by the pad multiplied by the distance at which the force is applied from the center of the wheel. In this case, we’re increasing the distance from the centre,sustantially.

2- Increase caliper piston area
Increasing the size of the pistons (or number of pistons) means you have more area applying a specific pressure. If pressure remains constant and the area increases, the force applied will increase.The 4 piston Wilwoods selected accomplish this well without going too large requiring excessive pedal travel.

3-Increase the Line Pressure Push your  foot harder, and the car brakes harder. This is because the line pressure increases. If you can increase the line pressure (perhaps by using vacuum assist) you increase brake torque. ATSS is the only manufacturer to have installed a remote vacuum booster, (power brakes) But after a few months of product testing we have determined this not to be a viable  package to offer as it is a very technically challenging install, placing the remote booster in the only available, but high risk location and quite frankly, did not provide any better braking performance than this new Big Brake Kit does. The Slingshot will always be available in a Manual braking configuration only.

4- Friction coefficient between the pad and rotor
Perhaps self explanatory, but if you can increase the friction (this comes down to material selection; brake pad manufacturers will often supply this data) between the pad and the rotor, you can increase the braking torque. ATSS offers the upgraded BP20  Wilwood  pads for better performance over the standard Wilwood base pad , and as an option , the Hawk Street 5.0 ferro carbon.  With more friction comes more heat, Therefore the best rotor selection is critical . The biggest advantage comes from upgrading to a Vented rotor, in addition to all the advantages of better gas escaping and surface cooling available with the selected Drilled and Slotted Rotors.
